Front-End Developer


Brooklyn, NY

PowerMarket Inc is a growing company working at the intersection of energy, policy and technology. We are developing a clean energy delivery platform that allows the utility industry to offer solar and other distributed generation solutions to their customers. We work out of the Urban Future Lab in downtown Brooklyn and are looking for a UI / UX Front-End Developer to join us.

We understand front-end developers are in high demand, and are offering the opportunity for not only valuable work experience, in the clean energy domain, but also the chance to improve your full-stack development skills by working side-by-side with our existing team of elite software engineers. As a Front-End Developer you will work to make the existing code base more consistent and available across platforms (mobile, browser and OS).

Responsibilities

  • Mission driven, with a desire to help accelerate the transition to a clean energy economy
  • Develop dashboards, navigation and interactivity in both mobile and traditional environments
  • Day to day development in Javascript, CSS, Bootstrap, JQuery, Java and SQL
  • Create company-wide UI/UX guidelines, style guide and iconography palette for developers and staff
  • Explore UI solutions, UI mockups, storyboards. Build UX flows, prototypes, wireframes and write specs for developers
  • Improve the cross-browser functionality of all web and mobile applications
  • Lead user testing sessions and incorporate findings into your designs
  • Contribute to UX team organization and growth
  • Iterate current UX designs to continually improve application interfaces and overall product development

Qualifications

  • You are passionate about the energy industry
  • Strong preference for candidates with a design background
  • Demonstrated ability to code in JQuery, Javascript, CSS, HTML
  • Experience and strong understanding of Ajax, Json and Rest
  • Demonstrated ability to work with Photoshop and Illustrator
  • Strong interaction design skills: wireframing, prototyping, HTML5, CSS3
  • Experience working with version control and source code management tools like Github, IntelliJ, MySQL Workbench among others.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills. Ability to explain why a design works or why it doesn't

Manager of Community Outreach & Strategic Partnerships

As the Manager of Community Outreach & Strategic Partnerships, you will take a leading role in all facets of PowerMarket's community solar subscriber services, including the engagement, acquisition, and support of retail and commercial subscribers across PowerMarket's community solar portfolio. You will have the opportunity to develop strategic partnerships with mission-aligned organizations and grow our subscriber base through various marking activities and campaigns. Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage PowerMarket's subscriber acquisition campaigns across its community solar portfolio.
  • Effectively communicate complex solar and energy industry concepts to retail customers with expert gravitas, but in terms that customers can understand.
  • Conduct market research and analysis to optimize acquisition services.
  • Develop top-of-funnel relationships with strategic partners and collaborate on creative marketing and brand awareness.
  • Manage and support subscribers as they move through enrollment and onboarding.
  • Work in cross-functional teams as necessary to improve processes and drive strategic direction of the acquisition teams.
  • Create community solar training materials and manage social media accounts.

Qualifications

  • Passionate about community solar and the clean energy future.
  • Proven experience in strategic partnerships, marketing, and/or outbound sales and support.
  • Thorough understanding of marketing elements (including traditional and digital marketing such as SEO/social media) and market research methods.
  • Entrepreneurial spirit with a creative mindset.
  • Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, or equivalent professional experience.
  • Experience with basic software technologies like HTML and the Internet generally.

As a Business Operations Associate, you will take a leading role in serving PowerMarket's community solar developer clients, immersing yourself in all facets of our client operations and project management business. This position is for a professional and entrepreneurial-minded team member who is looking to be challenged and grow in the role.

Responsibilities

  • Develop a trusted relationship with PowerMarket's portfolio of community solar developer clients.
  • Establish an understanding of client requirements and needs for each community solar project.
  • Communicate effectively client requirements to internal business and software teams and manage implementation
  • Ensure that services are delivered to our clients that exceed expectations.
  • Establish strong interpersonal relationships with client-counterparties, set regular meetings with client team to proactively inform and update on program progress.
  • Lead critical operational tasks including utility filings, regulatory compliance, and subscriber allocations.
  • Conduct ongoing analysis of client's portfolio technical and financial performance.
  • Develop strategies to optimally serve clients and their community solar subscribers.

Policy and Business Development Analyst - Intern


Brooklyn, NY

PowerMarket is a growing company working at the intersection of energy, finance and policy. We provide utilities with a software platform that allows them to deliver distributed generation programs like energy efficiency and solar to their customers and are looking for an Energy Policy and Business Development Analyst to help us.

In this position you will analyze the current North American clean energy policy landscape to determine states and provinces that represent the best opportunities for distributed generation programs like deep retrofit energy efficiency, oil-to-gas conversions, solar rooftops, and electric vehicle infrastructures.

Responsibilities

  • Understand and parse existing data in DSIRE and ACEEE renewable energy databases
  • Cull public data into qualitative and quantitative research for presentation to management
  • Participate in the strategic discussions surrounding the research
  • Prioritize research and seek new sources of data
  • Contribute to our internal knowledge base of policy and data assets

Qualifications

  • You are passionate and open-minded about the energy industry.
  • Experience working in the utility industry or demonstated understanding of utility industry concepts like avoided cost, LMP, dispatch, load duration, capacity markets, DTCs, LSEs, ISOs and RSOs
  • Experience working with environmental commodities or deep understanding of environmental commodity markets and instruments like RECs SRECs, WhiteTags, Offsets, Carbon Credits
  • Experience working in energy policy or deep understanding of RPS, EEPS, RGGI, CA32, Cost Recovery, Regulatory Frameworks, Cap and Trade, Carbon Taxes
  • You have an Bachelors or Masters degree (preferred) in a relevant field and substantial work experience
  • You are extremely comfortable in a distrubuted work environment and have complete command of MS Office, mobile productivity, and GoogleDocs environment
  • Demonstrated fluency (the ability to read, write and edit) HTML and CSS
  • Strong oral and written communication skills. Can present findings concisely and effectively

Full-Stack Java Developer

Apart from valuable work experience in the clean energy domain we offer the opportunity to improve your full-stack development skills by working side-by-side with our existing team of elite software engineers. As a Full-Stack Java Developer you will work on feature development, improvements to our framework, and performance enhancements to the application.

Responsibilities

  • Day to day feature development across the full application stack
  • Continued development of our API layer and migration toward a microservice architecture
  • Assist with the development of our ORM persistence layer as it relates to caching and in a distributed hardware environment
  • Beginning to move our development paradigm toward test driven development
  • Requirements gathering and application design across the full software development lifecycle
  • Explore UI solutions, UI mockups, storyboards. Build UX flows, prototypes, wireframes and write specs for front-end developers
  • Performance enhancements across our full application stack

Qualifications

  • Several years experience developing Java based web applications
