Billing, Reporting and Financial Analyst - Intern (Paid)


New York City and Working Remotely

PowerMarket is a leading community solar solution provider working at the intersection of energy, policy, and software that believes the future of clean energy is digital. We provide the community solar and energy industry broadly with the tools and services necessary to manage and administer their clean energy programs.

We typically work out of the Urban Tech Hub at Company, a vertical innovation campus, located near Grand Central Terminal in midtown Manhattan, but have been working remotely for the past year and will be embracing a hybrid / remote work paradigm going forward.

In this position you will be working closely with our billing and operations teams to help with financial analysis, reporting and operations processes. It is a perfect opporunity to get in on the ground floor of an industry that will be a growth engine of the global economy for the next century. The ideal candidate will be a full or part-time student (or recent graduate), have a passion for the clean energy industry, a proactive attitude, an entrepreneurial spirit and excellent communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Take lead of reporting for key metrics related to the financial and operational performance of our community solar portfolio
  • Support stakeholders in the understanding and application of reporting/performance metrics
  • Help identify and implement improvements to our operations, including development of new processes, reporting, and recommendations for system enhancements while maintaining high standards of quality
  • Support the Operations Manager in delivery of key responsibilities
  • Heaps of MS Excel and general data work
  • Coordinate with our business development, customer support, and operations teams, as well as with external stakeholders and utilities

Qualifications

  • You are passionate and open-minded about the energy industry
  • Advanced knowledge of MS Excel, with proficiency in PivotTables, Macros and Charts
  • Proficiency with Google tools such as Drive, Docs, Sheets, and Slides
  • Strong organizational and communications skills
  • Ability to think creatively to help streamline operations
  • Passion for analyzing data and identifying patterns
  • Strong oral and written communication skills. Can present findings concisely and effectively

Sales Outreach and Partnerships Manager - Maine

We're a leader in the community solar industry and provide solar developers, utilities, and energy retailers with the tools and services necessary to manage and administer their community solar programs. We are looking for a sales professional to join our team remotely from Maine. You will be working in a fast-paced environment with an opportunity to grow and advance as the company scales.

As the Sales Outreach and Partnerships Manager, you will have a leading role in customer acquisition and developing strategic partnerships with mission-aligned organizations and grow our subscriber base throughout the state. You will be active throughout the state working with community groups, industry associations and local organizations to help increase the visibility of community solar-writ large.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage subscriber acquisition campaigns across its community solar portfolio.
  • Effectively communicate complex solar and energy industry concepts to retail customers in terms that customers can understand.
  • Conduct market research and analysis to optimize acquisition services.
  • Develop relationships with strategic partners and collaborate on marketing and brand awareness.
  • Manage and support subscribers as they move through enrollment and onboarding.
  • Create community solar training materials and manage social media accounts.
  • Engage with community groups and industry associations
  • Host info sessions and speak to audiences at relevant events to help engage both clients and customers
  • Ability to work remotely, independently, and to manage professional relationships

Qualifications

  • An entrepreneurial spirit with a creative mindset and passionate about community solar and the clean energy future.
  • Proven experience in strategic partnerships, marketing, and/or outbound sales and support.
  • Thorough understanding of marketing elements (including traditional and digital marketing such as SEO/social media) and market research methods.
  • Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, business administration or equivalent professional experience.
  • Established relationships with relevant industry stakeholders
  • Desired 5 - 7 years of relevant experience.

Full-Stack Software Engineering - Intern (Paid)


New York, NY

PowerMarket is a growing company working at the intersection of energy, policy and technology. We are developing a clean energy delivery platform that allows companies working in the energy industry to offer solar and other clean energy solutions to their customers. We work out of the Urban Tech Hub at Company, a vertical innovation campus, located near Grand Central Terminal in midtown Manhattan and are looking for a Full-Stack Software Engineering Intern to join us.

Apart from valuable work experience in the clean energy domain we offer the opportunity to improve your full-stack development skills by working side-by-side with our existing team of elite software engineers. As a Full-Stack Software Engineer you will work on feature development, improvements to our platform, and performance enhancements to the application.

Responsibilities

  • Day to day feature development across the full application stack
  • Continued development of our API layer and migration toward a microservice architecture
  • Assist with the development of our ORM persistence layer as it relates to caching and in a distributed hardware environment
  • Working with third-party platforms like Stripe / AWS / AdobeSign and others
  • Requirements gathering and application design across the full software development lifecycle
  • Performance enhancements across our full application stack

Qualifications

  • Mission driven, with a desire to help accelerate the transition to a clean energy economy
  • Only candidates with computer science or engineering degrees
  • Several years experience developing Java based web applications
  • Experience and strong understanding of Ajax, Json and Rest
  • Strong computer science fundamentals. Understanding of data structures and software patterns
  • Familiarity with Linux and the AWS Cloud
  • Experience working with the Spring Framework
  • Demonstrated ability to code in JQuery, Javascript, CSS, HTML
  • Complete comfort and ability with either Eclipse or IntelliJ (preferably IntelliJ)
  • Experience working with version control and source code management tools like Github
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
